Camping in the dunes: a first-timer's guide
Hot days, cold nights and more stars than you have ever seen.

The desert is not empty. It is quiet, which is different, and the night sky is the main event.
Days can be very hot even in winter, and nights drop sharply. Pack layers and more water than seems sensible.
Layers, water, a guide
Go with a local guide who knows the tracks. Dunes move, and it is easy to get a car stuck in soft sand.
