By 7 am on a Sunday the queue at this stall in Lahore is already twenty people long. Nobody seems to mind.

The puris are thin and puffed, the chana is spicy with a sour edge, and the halwa is loose, warm and not too sweet. The aloo bhujia on the side is the sleeper hit.

Go before 9. After that the halwa runs out and the puris come out smaller as the oil gets tired.

Verdict

8.5/10 · sample score

Worth the early alarm. Order two puris per person and ask for extra chana.

Good

  • Puris fried to order
  • Halwa is light and not greasy
  • Honest prices

Not so good

  • Long queue after 8 am
  • Very little seating
