Rain leaves low-lying streets under water for a second night
Pumping stations ran through the night. Residents of three neighbourhoods say the same streets flood every year.

Heavy rain on Tuesday evening left several low-lying streets in Lahore under ankle-deep water for a second night in a row. Pumping stations ran through the night and most main roads were clear by 9 am.
Residents in three older neighbourhoods said water entered ground-floor rooms again. Many have built small brick steps at their doors, and some keep sandbags ready from July onwards.
“We do not need an announcement. We need the drain at the corner to be cleaned before the rain, not after.”
Same streets, every year
The water and sanitation office said two pumps were down for repair and both would be back in service by the weekend. It asked people not to throw plastic bags into drains, which block the grates within minutes.
More light rain is expected on Thursday.
